The Champion

One of the best Golf Courses in the US.

Do you have what it takes to conquer “The Champ"? Considered one of the toughest tests on the PGA TOUR, The Champion golf course at PGA National Resort is 7,045 yards of peril, with tricky South Florida winds constantly causing havoc, and seemingly tranquil water penalty areas lurking throughout — ready to strike down even the world’s best golfers. Home of The Honda Classic and The Bear Trap, The Champion is a must-play on any avid golfer’s list.

We ask that everyone commit to give.

We are asking that each guest couple plan to invest a minimum of $5,000 in the future ministry of Ability Tree.
Our incredible partners will provide lodging, meals, and golfing for all guests!

THE REASON WHY

1 in 6 children in the US have a developmental disability, over 17% of families are impacted by disability in some way. We believe that there is work to be done to welcome and include those families both in the life of our communities and the life of our churches across the world.

When you make the church inclusive, you make Jesus accessible.
By joining us at the Ability Tree Invitational, you are partnering with us in our mission to make Jesus accessible to all!

What is Ability Tree?

Ability Tree is a non-profit organization that is devoted to making Jesus accessible to all by providing disability ministry training for the local church, to help them welcome and include families impacted by disability. Through nation-wide consulting, we help churches become more accessible through assessing their place, people and programs.
We also provide R.E.S.T. (Recreation, Education, Support, & Training) to individuals and families impacted by disability through local branches, currently operating in New Jersey, Arkansas and Florida, with initial planning beginning to launch a new branch in Utah.

Our 2023 Vision

You are invited to join us in making a difference in the lives of families impacted by disability!

CONSULT

In 2023 we will consult and train 50 new churches to create and adapt ministries that welcome and include families impacted by disability. We are also in the process of creating and launching a digital training platform that will provide resources to churches nationally.

PLANT

In 2023 we will plant one new Ability Tree branch in and establish our new Ability Tree central office in the local community of Port St. Lucie, Florida.  We are also excited to announce we are in the early stages of planning to expand  Ability Tree into the Rocky Mountain West.

STRENGTHEN

In 2023 we will strengthen our local branches in Arkansas, New Jersey and Florida with continued oversight, leadership and support.  We will continue to partner with local churches and help them strengthen their vision for ministries to families impacted by disability.

Meet Our Founders

Joe and Jen Butlers

This is why we founded Ability Tree.

We’re a family of five. A mom, dad and three kiddos. We all have needs, but our son Micah has an official diagnosis and he’s the reason the organization exists.
Here’s a little more of our story… I vividly remember receiving the news of my son’s diagnosis from the neurologist some 22 years ago and it was not encouraging or hopeful. Hearing the experts say that my son had “abnormalities in his brain”, that they didn’t know if he’d ever walk, talk in complete sentences, or one day be independent, was a hard pill to swallow.

Doctors aren’t in the business of handing out hope, they give out answers and honestly, when it comes to individuals with disabilities like my son, these are educated guesses at best.
It’s been quite a journey and the first few years were the most challenging. Micah has developed well beyond what we expected in those early years. He walked at the age of four and he’s been talking in sentences for a decade and a half! Micah has blessed our entire family. He will always need someone to care for him and the benefits that come from being his dad far outweigh the personal costs of that care.
