our new rest and recreation center

The Rest and Recreation Center will be an one-of-a-kind facility in Arkansas, and a flagship facility for affiliate branches throughout the United States. From the foyer to the specialized small and large space, to the fully-accessible outdoor space, the facility will appeal to the senses of each and every child, teen, and young adult, with and without special needs.

The new space will allow us to provide rest and recreation for more families in the Northwest Arkansas area. It will also allow us to connect with more volunteers from throughout the community, teaching them how to interact with individuals with disabilities and their families.

our building program

The 10,000 square feet, new-build construction is proposed to be a metal building framed with a mix of metal siding and wood for the exterior. This will allow for economy and clear spanning capabilities. The exterior will have elegant lighting, signage, and architectural wood elements. The interior is fun, light, and open with a whimsical theme based on the Ability Tree logo. As an example, one can see a 3D interpretation of the tree in the Entry/Reception area. Messages and way finding will be creative and found throughout the building. An emphasis on health, safety, and security has also been taken into consideration. Custom pieces and specialty equipment can be found throughout the multi-purpose facility. The program allows for a variety of activities and services for all ages and accessibility needs.

our timeline

We plan to break ground in March of 2019, with a completion date of December 2019. Grand Opening is scheduled for January 2020.

our fundraising goals

Projected cost of the facility, land and furnishings: $2,250,000. Over the past 17 months, we have secured gifts and pledges close to $1,300,000 dollars. We have a current $400,000 Challenge Grant that we need to meet by October 1, 2019 to receive the funds. We are approximately $150,000 from meeting the challenge.

If you, your church, or your company are interested in being a partner in our Time to Grow Building Campaign, please send us a message.
